Technical context

Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator Associate is awarded by Microsoft to candidates who pass exam AZ-802 Administering Windows Server. It is aimed at system administrators who look after Windows servers, AD DS directories, storage and networking, and whose infrastructure no longer stops at the data centre but extends into Azure.

This is a single exam covering Windows Server administration on premises and in hybrid settings, split into seven skill areas. AD DS carries the most weight at 20 to 25 per cent, followed by storage and file services and by monitoring and troubleshooting at 15 to 20 per cent each. The remaining four, hybrid workloads, Hyper-V and Azure virtualisation, networking and security, account for 10 to 15 per cent apiece. What makes it demanding is the blend. Today's Windows Server administrator runs an estate that is partly local and partly connected to Azure, and the exam checks the ability to administer, secure and troubleshoot that estate as one system rather than treating the cloud as a separate topic. Knowing a tool is not enough; the question is which one applies when a resource sits on one side, the other, or both.

This practice quiz draws 40 questions from a bank of 200 spanning all seven areas. Scenarios confront the candidate with incidents, configuration choices and security trade-offs in a mixed environment. Explanations set out the expected reasoning and why the other options fall short. Retake it until you score above 75 per cent consistently, a sign that the right reflexes are in place across the whole scope.
