Motivation and Recognition
Evaluates your ability to give meaning to your team's work, recognise each person's contributions in a fair and personalised way, and sustain engagement, including during difficult periods.
A team motivation test assesses what a manager actually does to keep people wanting to do good work, beyond what their job description requires. Motivation plays out on several levels: the meaning given to objectives, how efforts are noticed and acknowledged, and the attention paid to fatigue or discouragement. Pay freezes, reorganisations and heavy workloads put it under particular strain.
This test puts candidates in front of teams that have lost confidence, successes worth celebrating and individuals who are disengaging or burning out. It is aimed at managers who care about their team's engagement, leaders taking over a new department, and recruiters who want to know how a future manager will sustain the commitment of the people they lead.
What this test measures
- How the purpose behind an objective or a decision handed down by senior management is explained
- How a contribution is recognised, taking into account the individual and their role
- Attention to quieter contributions and to how recognition is shared across the team
- How signs of disengagement or exhaustion are read and what response follows
- Keeping people involved through a pay freeze, a reorganisation or a cancelled project
Examples of situations in the test
- 1A workshop manager who has to tell his team there will be no pay rises this year
- 2An engineering team in the energy sector whose six-month project is shut down by senior management
- 3A charity coordinator whose team loses heart as funding falls and departing staff are not replaced
- 4A logistics hub manager asked to single out one winner after a peak period handled by the whole team
About this test
This test uses situational judgement tests (SJT), true/false questions and prioritisation exercises to assess your real behaviours. Each answer is weighted: there is no obvious "wrong" answer.
How to read your result
High result
A high score describes a manager who connects everyday work to a purpose people understand, recognises effort fairly and personally, and spots early signs of weariness.
Result to develop
A score to develop may signal uneven recognition or difficulty conveying the meaning of a decision when things get tense. The report identifies the motivation levers you use least and suggests simple actions to put into practice.
Roles where this skill is decisive
- Operations manager
- Customer contact centre manager
- Logistics hub manager
- Project manager
- Non-profit coordinator
- Remote team manager

Frequently asked questions
Is this a test of my own motivation?
No. It does not measure how motivated you are personally, but how you support other people's motivation. The situations place you in the role of a manager facing a demotivated team, a shared success or a team member who feels overlooked, and look at the choices you make to keep people engaged.
Is it suitable for managers who do not set pay?
Yes, and that is the case in most of the situations presented. Many frontline managers have little say over pay. The test focuses on what a manager can do with the means actually available, across varied contexts: tight budgets, decisions imposed from above, understaffed teams or people nearing the end of their careers.
Why use this test in recruitment?
A team's day-to-day experience depends to a large extent on its direct manager. Offered to candidates in a recruitment campaign, it shows how each one responds to motivation challenges that are the same for everyone, and the AI-generated report highlights strengths and points to watch ahead of the interview.
What does the final report contain?
After the 35 minutes, an AI-generated behavioural report sums up your strengths, areas for development and concrete recommendations. It draws on your answers to 20 randomly drawn questions, whether scenarios, true/false statements or prioritisation exercises. You take the test after signing in, in French, English or Arabic.
