Measuring and Managing Impact

Assess the ability to define relevant indicators, measure the impact of actions taken, and manage results with rigour and transparency.

An impact measurement test assesses the ability to show what an action has really changed and to manage an activity based on sound data. In many organisations, dashboards are plentiful but do little to inform decisions. This skill means choosing indicators, interpreting them, linking them to the real stakes of the business and turning them into a shared decision tool, even when the figures are uncomfortable or incomplete.

This online test presents candidates with neglected dashboards, patchy data, questionable comparisons between teams and awkward reporting requests. It shows how they reason when figures are ambiguous or under pressure. Candidates put the robustness of their analytical reasoning to the test. Recruiters assess a profile able to steer a programme, a business activity or an HR project based on facts rather than impressions.

What this test measures

  • How one selects and defines the indicators that will track an action or programme
  • Interpretation of conflicting, incomplete or late data ahead of a decision
  • Response when an indicator in the green does not reflect the reality on the ground
  • How one presents mixed or unfavourable results to senior management or stakeholders
  • Ability to keep a dashboard alive as a decision tool for the whole team

Examples of situations in the test

  1. 1A training programme whose effects must be demonstrated although no measurement was planned at the outset.
  2. 2A favourable customer satisfaction survey contradicted by feedback gathered by the sales teams.
  3. 3An unfavourable comparison between two production sites that do not operate under the same conditions.
  4. 4An impact report requested by management for the next day while the data has not yet been consolidated.

About this test

This test uses situational judgement tests (SJT), true/false questions and prioritisation exercises to assess your real behaviours. Each answer is weighted: there is no obvious "wrong" answer.

How to read your result

High result

A high score describes someone who can link figures to real stakes, read them with discernment and turn them into concrete support for deciding and reporting.

Result to develop

A score to develop indicates that measurement is sometimes still seen as a formality, or that data interpretation lacks perspective. The report suggests ways to build more useful tracking and more convincing presentations.

Roles where this skill is decisive

  • Management controller
  • Programme manager

Frequently asked questions

Do I need statistics knowledge to take this test?

The test involves no calculations. It relies on workplace scenarios, true/false statements and prioritisation exercises focused on reasoning: which indicator to track, how to read a trend, how to react to a surprising figure. Familiarity with dashboards helps, but the skill observed is professional judgement.

How is it different from the results orientation test?

The results orientation test looks at pursuing a goal and overcoming obstacles to reach it. The impact measurement test focuses on the tools of steering: defining benchmarks, interpreting data, comparing situations and reporting to management. The two are often useful together for roles with strong accountability for results.

Which roles is this test relevant for in recruitment?

It sheds light on applications for roles that must justify the resources committed: management control, programme management, HR functions measuring the effects of a policy, project direction, and monitoring and evaluation in donor-funded organisations. Added to a campaign, it complements the interview with a structured view of the candidate's reasoning.

How long does the test take and how is it scored?

The test takes 35 minutes for 20 questions drawn at random from a larger bank. Each answer is weighted: several options can be relevant, to different degrees. Once you finish, you receive an AI-generated behavioural report detailing strengths, areas for growth and recommendations, in French, English or Arabic.
