Contexte technique

The CIPP/E, Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe, is awarded by the IAPP. It is the benchmark credential for European data protection law, with the GDPR at its centre, and it is aimed at DPOs, lawyers and compliance officers whose job is to turn legal texts into concrete obligations. It pairs naturally with the CIPM, which deals with running a privacy programme day to day: the CIPP/E covers what the law requires, the CIPM covers how an organisation delivers it.

The real exam has 90 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, and the fee is 550 dollars. What makes it hard is less recalling articles than applying them: characterising a processing operation, choosing the right lawful basis, working out who bears which obligation, and putting a transfer outside the Union on a sound footing. The scope has also widened, since body of knowledge version 1.3.3, in force since September 2025, brings in the EU AI Act and the NIS2 Directive. The exam is offered in English, French and German, so candidates can sit it in the language they work in.

This practice quiz draws 40 questions from a bank of 200 each session, in 65 minutes, across all five domains. Scenarios put the candidate in front of cases where several answers look acceptable and only a close reading of the text settles the matter. Explanations set out the expected reasoning and say why the other options fall short. Retake it until you score above 75 per cent consistently; each draw changes the mix of questions.
